Imagine spending $1.2 million on a movie only to make $30.00. Yes – Thirty USA Dollars.
Oh – did I mention that the director refunded $10 so the makeup artist? Meaning, they really only "made" $20.
The movie I'm refereeing to was an independent tiller named Zyzzyx Road (2006). The film opened in a Dallas, Texas theater where six individuals bought tickets – two of them cast members.
Because of the $1,199,970.00 loss, Zyzzyx Road has the honor of being the lowest grossing film of all time.
